CONSTRUCTING SUPPORT |

| CONSTRUCTING SUPPORT involves developing a clearly stated position. The process includes three components that can be assessed: | ||
| a. | Accurately identifies a position that requires evidence rather than merely stating facts which are obvious. | |
| b. | Provides ample, logical evidence for the position. | |
| c. | Demonstrates provocative thought. | |

| 4 | a. | I have accurately identified a position that required evidence. |
| b. | I have selected and applied evidence which effectively supported the stated position. All of my carefully selected evidence is connected to and helped prove the position. | |
| c. | I have demonstrated original thinking and have provided a unique perspective on the position. | |
|
|
||
| 3 | a. | I have accurately identified a position that required evidence. |
| b. | I have presented relevant evidence that was needed to support my position. | |
| c. | I have demonstrated clear, logical thought. | |
|
|
||
| 2 | a. | I have identified a position that required evidence, but I have mistakenly discussed additional positions. |
| b. | I have presented some accurate evidence that supported the position as well as some irrelevant or incomplete evidence that may not have addressed the position. | |
| c. | I have demonstrated basic thought or have restated thought already given. | |

| 1 | a. | I have identified random information that does not focus on a central position and required no support. |
| b. | I did not address the prompt (the assignment). | |
