Book Review (November 3, 2006)
The Looking Glass Wars by Frank Beddor
Everyone knows the story of Alice in Wonderland, right? It’s all wrong. THAT entire story is just a misinterpretation. Alice didn’t fall down a rabbit hole, she was in Wonderland originally, and she wasn’t Alice, she was Alyss Heart, princess of Wonderland. Everything is wrong, from the minor details to the names. What really happened is Alyss’ aunt Redd (the bad person from the story we know) took the throne from Genevieve, her sister and Alyss’ mother. Alyss then had to escape from the castle into our world. Would she return to free the citizens of Wonderland, or would she perish in the new place she was in?
I liked the book because it was a new and intriguing concept. It was full of excitement and fun, even though the very beginning was slow, because they had to introduce all the characters. I would recommend this book to anyone that enjoys any type of fantasy or if they liked the original story.
