When you want to run a slide show on another computer, you can use the Pack and Go Wizard to pack your presentation. The wizard packs all the files and fonts used in the presentation together on a disk or network location. When you intend to run your show on a computer that doesn't have Microsoft PowerPoint installed, you have the option of including the PowerPoint Viewer. You can include linked files as part of your package, and if you use TrueType fonts you can include them as well. If you make changes to your presentation after you use the Pack and Go Wizard, just run the wizard again to update the package.
After you pack the presentation, you can unpack the presentation to run on another computer.
If prompted, insert another disk.
Notes
Before you can do this procedure, you must have used the Pack and Go Wizard to pack your presentation.
Tip To run the slide show later, locate the presentation in the folder you unpacked it to, right-click the presentation and then click Show on the shortcut menu. If the Show command is not available, neither Microsoft PowerPoint nor the PowerPoint Viewer is installed on this computer. Pack your presentation again and include the Viewer.
The PowerPoint Viewer is a program used to run slide shows on computers that don't have Microsoft PowerPoint installed. You can add the Viewer to the same disk that contains a presentation by using the Pack and Go Wizard. Then you can unpack the Viewer and presentation together and run the slide show on another computer. You can also create a play list to use with the Viewer so that you can run multiple presentations, one after another.
The Viewer, Ppview32.exe, which can be freely distributed with no additional license, comes with PowerPoint and is located in the PFiles\MSOffice\Office\Xlators folder on the CD-ROM. If you installed the Viewer when you installed PowerPoint, the Viewer is located in the Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\Xlators folder on your hard disk.
You can also download the Viewer and get updates and additional information from the PowerPoint Web site.
The Viewer that comes with PowerPoint 2000 supports all PowerPoint 97 and PowerPoint 95 features. You can use it to view files created in both PowerPoint for Windows and PowerPoint for the Macintosh. Some of the PowerPoint 2000 features, such as picture bullets and automatic numbering, are not supported by the Viewer.
