Rancho R.U.L.E.S.

Here is a very quick overview of our Rancho R.U.L.E.S. program. Many schools focus on the “Don’t principle:” don’t run in the hallway, don’t steal, and don’t fight.  At Rancho we believe in teaching the “What principle;” showing students what they should do. Do- show respect for others by walking in the hallway, Do- return lost items to the owner, Do- resolve conflicts with the assistance of appropriate individuals.

Below is the acronym for Rancho R.U.L.E.S.;

Respect
Willingness to show honor and appreciation and to refrain from violating something.

Unwavering  Integrity
A steadfast adherence to a strict moral ethical code;  honest.

Leadership
The ability to guide, direct, or influence people.

Effort
Earnest activity intended to accomplish something.

Social Responsibility
The principle that one should contribute to the welfare of society.

Students are recognized by teachers and staff members for demonstrating the appropriate behaviors. Students are given a Rancho R.U.L.E.S. ticket that is then placed into a drawing for prizes each week. Prizes range from head of the line passes, to popcorn parties, to gift cards for local venues.

So, is this approach working? Well over the past four years we have dropped from an average of 8-15 daily office referrals to an average of less than 2 referrals. During an average trimester, over 3500 tickets are awarded for positive behaviors. As such, we at Rancho will continue to teach expected behaviors and recognize students that demonstrate these skills.
