LOCKERS: Each student is assigned a locker for books. Students may purchase a lock from the school. They should not share their locker or lock combination with other students.
The person to whom the locker is assigned will be responsible for the content of the locker and for keeping the locker neat and clean both inside and outside. Students should bring only enough money to school to meet the need of the day. Excess money and valuables should not be brought to school.
Students may also purchase a lock to use in the P.E. class. These lockers are to keep your clothes and backpacks in during your P.E. class only. These lockers are used by all students and are only available during your P.E. period. While you are participating in P.E. activities, your clothes and backpack should be in a LOCKED locker. While not in P.E. your P.E. clothes should be kept in your book locker.

HOW TO OPEN YOUR COMBINATION LOCK
Begin at zero (0). Turn to the right two whole turns and stop at your first combination number.
Then turn left one whole turn past your first number and stop at your middle number.
Now turn right and stop at your last number. Pull down on the lock and it should open.
Remove the lock and lift up on the locker handle to open your locker.

MONEY: Students should bring only enough money to school to meet the need of the day. Excess money and valuables MUST not be brought to school.

LOST AND FOUND: Found valuables such as purses, wallets, watches, money, clothing, and books should be turned into the office. If you are missing an item, you need to check with the office to see if it has been turned in.

LUNCH PERIOD: Students may not leave the campus during the lunch period unless their parents or guardians come to school and sign them out. Students may bring a sack lunch or purchase food and beverages. Students are responsible for their own trash.

During lunchtime a variety of competition sports, spirit activities, free play, clubs, and socializing is available.

All food and eating must remain in the quad area. The blacktop areas by the gym and the field areas to the track are available for sports activities. Classrooms, hallways, the multipurpose room, and other areas are out of bounds during lunchtime.

PERSONAL PROPERTY:  Personal items such as iPods, Game Boys, replica weapons, etc. are not permitted at school. If a school activity requires such an item be brought to school, a teacher's prior written approval is necessary. If a student brings any of these items to school without permission, the item will be confiscated and held in the office until it is claimed by a parent.

PHONE MESSAGES: Our office staff is unable to take and deliver phone messages for students. Such messages disrupt the instructional programs and distract students and staff from their jobs. Emergency messages from parents will be delivered to students in classrooms.

PROGRESS AND REPORT CARDS: Progress Reports provide students and parents information about student progress in classes. Parents are encouraged to assist students having difficulties so that performance improves prior to the trimester grades. Appointments with teachers and/or counselors are encouraged when performance expectations are not met. A Report Card showing academic grades, Citizenship marks, and comments is mailed home at the end of each trimester.

RANCHO RESPECT CODE: The students and staff at Rancho have made a commitment to honor respect as a code of behavior that will allow each person to attain their highest goals while valuing the goals of others. This code is considered an intellectual habit. In other words, students and staff must learn what respect is, model it, practice it, and monitor it every day so that it becomes a valued habit by all. This code includes respect for one's self, our peers, education, and the community and environment.

The Rancho staff and students expect that each individual will demonstrate an understanding of respect and that respect will be taught, modeled, and monitored throughout the school community.

It is expected that Rancho students will behave in a responsible manner and always respect the rights and property of themselves and others. This includes at school, on the way to and from school, and anywhere in the Irvine community.
